      This position is responsible for the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) of two important and fast-growing lines-of-business within Individual Markets: 1) Annuity and 2) Wealth Management (Park Avenue Securities).

      The principle workstreams of the position are:

      1. To prepare earnings projections for each business by planning for the individual revenue and expense components

      2. To explain material variances between actual results vs. plan and prior period results

      The value of the position lies in the depth of understanding of the economics in order to sufficiently:

      1. Rationalize historical trends and plan variances (earnings drivers)

      2. Develop and share insights with finance and business leaders

      You are

      • Highly analytical and motivated to find and explain peculiar or interesting aspects of financial plans/results (insights)

      • Skilled at building analytical frameworks that intuitively illustrate insights

      • Able to articulate perspective in a clear and compelling fashion, and for a range of audiences

      • Resourceful and motivated to build collaborative relationships with other subject-matter-experts

      • Able to organize and prioritize time and effort to meet FP&A deadlines

      You will

      • Lead efforts to develop financial projections and re-forecasts (typically 3 cycles/year)

      • Lead efforts to analyze monthly results and summarize key trends & plan variances

      • Collaborate directly with key subject-matter leaders (actuarial, expense, business functions, etc.) to support understanding of key trends and variances

      • Communicate results and perspective with leaders in finance (eg IM CFO) and business line heads

      • Engage in multitude of short and long-tailed analytical workstreams aimed at expanding the depth of business knowledge

      • Supervise and develop FP&A analyst

      You have

      • Demonstrated ability in a financial analysis role

      • Demonstrated analytical proficiency in a sufficiently complex financial environment

      • Proven ability to communicate effectively

      • Proven ability to collaborate and lead workstreams

      Location & Travel

      • The primary location for this position is (one of) New York, Holmdel, NJ, or Pittsfield, MA. The position is required to work in a Guardian office 3+ days per week

      • Limited. Occasional travel to other (non-primary) Guardian locations (2-4 times/year)

      Salary Range:

      $129,500.00 - $212,750.00

      The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
