      The post holder will lead on all aspects of strategic planning in relation to individual player development. They will develop and implement a coaching curriculum in line with the Manchester City Football methodology focusing on individual player development for all players and age groups in the Academy.

      The Head of Individual Player Development will lead, design and plan coaching sessions across Foundation, Youth Development and the Professional Phase. They will also be responsible for creating continued professional development programmes for all the coaches within the Academy focusing on individual player development.

      The post holder will sit on the Academy Management Team and will develop and work with the Heads of Coaching, to ensure all coaching functions are joined together for new and existing players to provide a seamless football development programme.

      Your Impact

      1. To lead and manage the individual player development department with responsibility for the implementation of an individual development curriculum, individualisation methodology & vocabulary for the Academy. Ensuring that the Manchester City playing style is embedded in the individual development curriculum.

      1. To work collaboratively with other key stakeholders internally (for example, Head of Performance Analysis, Head of Physical Performance, Head of Performance Lifestyle and Player Support to support the individual development of players) and externally (learning from other sports and disciplines).

      1. Collaborate and work closely with the Heads of Coaching (Head of Coaching U6s – U11s; Head of Coaching U12s – U15s & Head of Coaching U16s – U21s) to plan and implement a co-ordinated approach to player development across the Foundation, Youth Development and Professional Development Phases.

      1. Lead and plan sessions to support individual player development across the Foundation, Youth Development and Professional Development Phases. Supporting with the delivery of sessions as appropriate.
      2. Implement an individualised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for all coaches in the Academy.

      1. Implement and evolve the MCFC player development model ensuring that individual development is tracked and monitored in between the What Counts meeting cycle.

      1. To ensure all staff within the department consistently live the academy standards and behaviours, ensuring that players meet these standards both on and off the pitch.

      What we are looking for

      Essential

      • UEFA A Licence
      • Advanced FA Youth Award
      • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)
      • Extensive knowledge of football in terms of tactics, performance, and player development.
      • Proven experience delivering successful team performances in elite sport.
      • Experience of working in an Academy environment with elite youth talent.

      Desirable

      • Demonstrable experience in line management and coach development.
