      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Analyze and interpret patient medical records to identify and determine billable services, assigning appropriate diagnostic/procedure billing codes
      - Perform data entry into online medical record abstracts and verify the accuracy of data imported from the 3M encoder system
      - Determine Present on Admission (POA) indicators for diagnoses and report sentinel events for risk surveillance
      - Monitor billing performance to ensure optimal reimbursement while adhering to compliance regulations
      - Stay current with coding-related regulations and reimbursement activities to optimize revenue cycle management

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Must reside in California
      - High school graduate or equivalent
      - Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required for level I/II; two or more certifications required for level III
      - Minimum of 2 years coding experience in an acute care facility using ICD-9-CM and CPT/DRG assignment for level II; minimum of 5 years for level III
      - Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding principles and medical terminology

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
      - Experience with coding in both inpatient and outpatient settings
      - Demonstrated data entry skills with typing speed of 40-50 wpm
      - Familiarity with commonly used business software, including Microsoft Office
      - Strong ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
