What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and analyze acute care medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance for Same Day Surgery and Observation services
- Perform advanced coding for inpatient hospitals, adhering to governmental and payer-specific requirements
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and other coding systems
- Validate DRG and APR-DRG assignments and reimbursement calculations
- Participate in coding quality improvement initiatives and provide education to clinical staff
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- High School Diploma or GED
- Expert ability to understand and apply complex coding and billing requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, and coding classification systems
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health records
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate degree or higher in health information management, health informatics, or related field
- Experience in acute care facility coding, including ICD-10-CM & PCS coding
- Familiarity with EPIC EHR and 3M 360 CAC (Computer Assisted Coding)
