What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and accurately interpret medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures, assigning appropriate ICD-10, CPT, or modifier codes
- Assign hospital codes for various patient classes, including Emergency Department, Observation, and Same-Day Care
- Ensure timely coding, charging, and abstraction of accounts for assigned specialty areas
- Maintain and enhance coding knowledge through quality reviews and study of reference materials
- Communicate with physicians and other personnel to obtain necessary information for accurate code assignments
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certification in one of the following: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, COC-A, COC, CPC-H, CPC, or CIC
- Minimum of one (1) year of hospital coding experience
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy during constant interruptions
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Graduate of a Health Information Technology (HIT) program or Medical Coding Certification Program
