      We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to lead, facilitate and support our business in the implementation of our unified People Plan.

      The role

      As a HR Business Partner, you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence at Devonport, Babcock provides through-life support for submarines, surface ships and associated systems and equipment as part of our continuing commitment to support our nation’s naval capability.

      Day-to-day, you will provide advice and guidance on Employee Relation and Industrial Relation matters. You will diagnose and create or enable solutions to support the business whilst remaining aligned to the People Plan and provide change management support. A proportion of your role will be in support of the implementation of solutions, ranging from resourcing, reward, development, culture and leadership.

      • Lead and manage the roll out and management of a HR People Plan and initiatives within a business area
      • Sponsor, lead, drive and ensure the delivery of complex business change projects, ensuring alignment with the People Plan, and realisation of the business objectives
      • Develop and propose adaptations of HR activity to meet the specific remit of a business or contract, ensure alignment and delivery of HR solutions provided SMEs, People Centre, and third parties
      • Apply subject matter expertise to the development of policy, process, or approach, reflecting external best practice and ensuring that they add value to the business
      • Consider the deployment of HR processes to meet the requirements of the area supported, to ensure these are fully implemented and deliver the intended benefit to the business or areas supported
      • Support the development of appropriate skills, knowledge and behaviours across the business to enable managers and employees to achieve business objectives in support of our Purpose and Principles.

      Essential experience for the HR Business Partner

      • Depth of knowledge in a range of HR functional areas and deep understanding of the techniques and approaches associated with HR activity
      • The ability to contribute to development of HR policy and processes for the defined area of responsibility
      • You will be accountable for the delivery of large and complex change projects which will require strong project management skills and stakeholder engagement skills
      • You will be a strong communicator who is able to influence others, interact with senior stakeholders and effectively challenge at all levels
      • The role leads HR project work which could include: Organisation Design, Organisation Development, Resource and Talent Planning, Performance and Reward, Employee Engagement, Employee Relations, etc.

      Qualifications for the HR Business Partner

      • Ideally, you will have a level seven or equivalent HR qualification and be a chartered member of the CIPD or have comparable experience
      • You must be able to achieve Security Clearance to be considered for this role.
