- Proactively collaborates and advises managers and employees on personnel/HR issues and organizational development concerns
- Provides direction and advice in the administration and interpretation of Company policies and practices
- Participates as part of the Business Unit and Leadership Team in achieving desired business performance by identifying areas for process improvement, enrolling the group's commitment, and then cooperatively providing resources and/or delivering efficient processes/learning to resolve issues or to meet strategic objectives
- Observe team processes and suggest and/or provides interventions and feedback to the team leader and team members as appropriate. Asks questions that help the team to clarify and confront a problem and to make their own decisions
- Participate in business planning, decisions, and BU strategy development and share fully in business priorities. Provides assurance that regional HR initiatives and strategies are reflective of BU priorities and initiatives to ensure successful delivery of HR programs to meet BU needs
- Supports the development of business unit HR management objectives and site-specific practices, aligned to both regional and corporate policies and strategy in consultation with the regional HR leadership team, which reflect the business environment
- Contributes to the development of the annual BU scorecard with a particular focus on defining BU-specific HR priorities with success measures
- Provide support to define and develop BU organizational effectiveness and design to ensure current and future workforce needs are met to ensure effective BU resourcing requirements are met. Translate such requirements to the Talent Acquisition team to ensure BU TA strategies are fit for purpose and reflect business requirements
- Lead the maintenance of site employee records and maintenance to maintain compliance with legal and Cenovus information management protocols
- Supports and coaches leaders in providing resource strategies and employee development
- Participate as a contributing member of the broader HR team in special projects and activities in support of the broader strategic objectives of Cenovus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
- 5+ years of related experience in leading a multi-disciplinary HR team.
- Experienced knowledge in employee relations, HR policy development and administration, and organizational effectiveness
- Solid understanding of benefit plans, compensation, payroll practices, training and employee development, employment law, affirmative action, EEOC
- BA degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration/HR, or similar
- Professional Human Resources or Society for Human Resources Management Professional certification(s)
- Oil and Gas industry and/or complex manufacturing experience
