      JOB SUMMARY

      Under general direction, provides support to the HR Analyst II (Benefits) by performing a variety of technical and professional work in support of the Tribal Administration’s Benefits functions.

      MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with all aspects of benefits administration to include but not limited to 401k, pension Section 125 administration, COBRA, open enrollment, workers’ compensation, family medical leave, short term disability, long term disability, customer service, and usage/participation tracking.
    • Provides Assistance to the Benefits Team; assist with various reports, surveys and tables. Assist with preparing and maintaining and disseminates information and documents as appropriate
    • Assist with thorough orientation of new employees, providing all information on the Tribe, Tribal Benefits, policies and procedures.
    • Maintains benefit files, records of transactions and other employee benefit documents/files for all staff in accordance with Human Resources record retention policy
    • Assist with input of HR Information and data changes related to benefits.
    • Maintains discretion in all matters of confidentiality.
    • Answers questions and provides information and general assistance to employees and the public regarding benefits and related human resources programs, plans, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
    • Ensure internal documentation is organized, timely and complete while maintaining confidential records.
    • Assists employees in filling out the paperwork for their benefits packages.
    • Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
    • EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

      Required: High School diploma/GED with four (4) years of Human Resources, general administrative and/or business office experience.

      OR

      Associate’s degree in related field AND two (2) years of Human Resources, general administrative and/or business office experience.

      OR

      Bachelor’s degree in related field.

      Preferred: Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation(s) preferred.

      SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

      Skilled in:

      • performing accurate data entry
      • both verbal and written communication
      • problem solving and decision making; operating standard office equipment; proficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel).

      Ability to:

      • Maintain confidential and sensitive information.
      • Carry out assigned projects independently to their completion.
      • Effectively communicate (both verbally and written communication skills).
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, officials, Tribal Members and the general public.
      • Work under steady pressure with frequent interruptions and a high degree of public contact by phone or in person.

      Knowledge of:

      • Current office practices and techniques.
      • Current policies and practices of Human Resources administration, classification, compensation and benefits, recruitment, selection, training, and employee relations.
      • Methods and techniques used in conducting research and analyzing data.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

      Licenses or Certifications Required

      PHR, SPHR or NNAHRA Certification preferred. A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
