      JOB SUMMARY

      The HR Coordinator is responsible for organizing human resources efforts concerning employees, volunteers, students, observers, and contract workers at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. This includes overseeing the onboarding and off boarding processes, new employee orientation, employee personnel files, employment verifications & background checks, computer-based approval actions, and tracking of these human resource efforts.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      • Facilitates the onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, volunteers, students, travelers, observers and contractors.
      • Oversees new employee orientation (NEO) and coordinates orientation schedules for new hires and topic presenters.
      • Maintains identification badge photos and is responsible for the badge-making process.
      • Completes data entry and assists with audits of new hire and personnel change actions in the HR system.
      • Organizes employee hiring and transfer forms, and maintains personnel files.
      • Uses alphabetical and numerical systems to organize paper and electronic records documents.
      • Completes verification of employment for staff.
      • Schedules and assists with facilitating new hire and employee exit interviews.
      • Assist with primary source verification, tracking, and auditing required for employee licenses and certifications, ie., nursing licenses, specialized certifications, etc.
      • Assists with document tracking, auditing, and HR processes related to regulatory requirements.
      • Orders supplies for the HR department using the appropriate requisition method (electronic or paper requisitions).

      Human Resources Responsibilities For All Human Resources Staff

      • Maintains procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow.
      • Communicates accurately, clearly and concisely to senior leadership, managers, employees, and applicants.
      • Maintains thorough documentation and organization strategies.
      • Maintains a sensitive, fair and impartial approach to dealing with employees.
      • Responds to inquiries in an expedient manner.
      • Is a team player; assists the HR team and participates on special projects as needed.
      • Attends position-specific meetings, prepares reports and provides recommendations in a timely and accurate manner.
      • Maintains a good working relationship and provides support within the department and with staff in other departments.
      • Demonstrates ability to research, compile data, draw conclusions and make recommendations for process improvement.

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      Education / Experience / License and Certifications

      • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
      • Associate Degree in Business or related field, preferred.
      • Minimum of three (3) years customer service, recordkeeping, or relevant office experience, required.
      • Minimum of one (1) year experience in hospital/healthcare setting, preferred.

      • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
      • Attention to detail and ability to use discretion when handling confidential information.
      • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
      • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
      • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple assignments, balance priorities, makes decisions appropriately and timely.
      • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, data entry, Microsoft Outlook e-mail and use of computerized calendar system.

      Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
