      General Function

      The Human resources generalist will support the daily operations of the Human Resources department with an emphasis on the compliance matters for the company.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities

      • Works as a team member and supports the entire HR department.
      • Receives employee concerns and handles appropriately.
      • Utilizes and answers questions regarding HR technology.
      • Assists with E-Verify and follows up with locations to resolves cases.
      • Point of contact for all unemployment charges for the company. Compiles quarterly reports for accounting. Participates in corporate office and retail fact-findings/hearings as needed.
      • Run a variety of HR reports as requested (turnover, retention, headcounts, diversity, annual AAP)
      • Conduct research on laws, policies and procedures that impact the Human Resources area.
      • Manage corporates office job postings.
      • Completes the orientation and onboarding for new office employees.
      • Serve as the regulatory compliance resource for the company, including retail compliance regulations and policies.
      • Assists with questions on drug testing for new and current HR managers.
      • Provide documents, posters, communication, and support to all Hy-Vee, Inc. locations, keeping them current in all areas of compliance.
      • Updates job descriptions and posts positions as needed.
      • Assists with 260e and Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) programs
      • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
      • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

      Education and Experience

      A bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ human resource experience preferred; or similar combination of education and experience of unemployment, drug testing, E-Verify and hiring policies.

      Equipment

      Standard office equipment, including calculator, telephone, copier, Fax, and PC with Microsoft Office programs

      Working Conditions

      The duties of this position are performed in a general office setting. There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.

      Physical Requirements

      • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, normal depth perceptions.
      • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
      • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
