- Align HR strategies with the organization's overall business objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance on HR strategies, policy development, and priorities.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, offering HR expertise.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection process.
- Develop and implement effective talent acquisition and retention strategies.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Administer and manage compensation and benefits programs including Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
- Ensure competitive compensation packages and attractive benefits plans.
- Stay updated on market trends and industry standards.
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintainHR policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee the development and implementation of training and development programs.
- Work alongside division leaders to identify training needs and provide opportunities for employee growth.
- Oversee HR operations, including payroll, employee records, and HR systems.
- Track and analyze HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
- Develop and maintain all HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure all HR policies are in compliance with all relevant laws.
- Mitigate risk to the company through proper HR practices.
- Five plus years' work-related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Society of Human Resources Management certification (PHR). Advanced certification (SPHR) is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Human Resources laws.
- Intermediate knowledge of workforce analysis.
- Intermediate knowledge of compensation systems.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations and information.

Summary
The Armstrong Garden Centers Human Resources Director is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Human Resources and Training teams and supporting all divisions. This role directs and manages the work of a comprehensive Human Resources team including a Recruiting and Training Manager and Human Resources Manager and works in partnership with the retail operations team. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President.
Qualifications
This position requires a dynamic and motivated self-starter who is capable of working both independently and with a team. The ideal candidate is an energetic and creative individual who is focused, organized and an effective communicator. This position will be required to maintain a strong operational and cultural understanding so as to best meet the needs of the business.
This position will require the ability to complete multiple cross-functional projects while maintaining the general requirements of the position in a time-sensitive environment. Candidates must have 5-7 years of previous Human Resources Management experience.
