      Summary

      The Armstrong Garden Centers Human Resources Director is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Human Resources and Training teams and supporting all divisions. This role directs and manages the work of a comprehensive Human Resources team including a Recruiting and Training Manager and Human Resources Manager and works in partnership with the retail operations team. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President.

      Qualifications

      This position requires a dynamic and motivated self-starter who is capable of working both independently and with a team. The ideal candidate is an energetic and creative individual who is focused, organized and an effective communicator. This position will be required to maintain a strong operational and cultural understanding so as to best meet the needs of the business.

      This position will require the ability to complete multiple cross-functional projects while maintaining the general requirements of the position in a time-sensitive environment. Candidates must have 5-7 years of previous Human Resources Management experience.

      Additional requirements include (but are not limited to):

      • Previous payroll and benefits management experience (ADP preferred)
      • Strong working knowledge of Worker's Compensation processes
      • Dynamic and professional communication skills
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word)

      Position Responsibilities

      This position is responsible for the following:

      Strategic HR Leadership:

      • Align HR strategies with the organization's overall business objectives.
      • Provide leadership and guidance on HR strategies, policy development, and priorities.
      • Serve as a key member of the leadership team, offering HR expertise.

      Talent Acquisition and Management:

      • Oversee the recruitment and selection process.
      • Develop and implement effective talent acquisition and retention strategies.
      • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes.

      Compensation and Benefits:

      • Administer and manage compensation and benefits programs including Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
      • Ensure competitive compensation packages and attractive benefits plans.
      • Stay updated on market trends and industry standards.

      Employee Relations and Compliance:

      • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
      • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
      • Develop and maintainHR policies and procedures.

      Training and Development:

      • Manage and oversee the development and implementation of training and development programs.
      • Work alongside division leaders to identify training needs and provide opportunities for employee growth.

      HR Operations and Administration:

      • Oversee HR operations, including payroll, employee records, and HR systems.
      • Track and analyze HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.

      Policy and Procedure:

      • Develop and maintain all HR policies and procedures.
      • Ensure all HR policies are in compliance with all relevant laws.
      • Mitigate risk to the company through proper HR practices.

      Education/Experience

      • Five plus years' work-related experience.
      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
      • Society of Human Resources Management certification (PHR). Advanced certification (SPHR) is a plus.

      Other Skills/Abilities

      • Advanced knowledge of Human Resources laws.
      • Intermediate knowledge of workforce analysis.
      • Intermediate knowledge of compensation systems.
      • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
      • High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations and information.

      Local and national travel.
