What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on organizational policies and procedures, including the collective bargaining agreement
- Provide education, training, and guidance to supervisory staff on all areas of human resources
- Develop training and/or tools for supervisory staff
- Actively support the recruitment process and assist with employee onboarding
- Handle employee complaints, grievances, disputes, and questions
- Facilitate timely resolution of employee relations issues
- Assist with compensation and classification
- Develop and/or revise policies
- Provide guidance and support to members of the human resources department
- Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately
- Other projects and duties as assigned
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Advanced knowledge of employment law and human resources practices
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve with analysis and critical thinking skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor of Science degree in human resources, organizational management, business administration, or closely related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated progressively responsible experience in human resources
- Human resource experience in a healthcare union environment strongly preferred
- Certification in human resources, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM – SCP, or similar preferred
