- Assists with all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire paperwork, I9 processing and retention, and audits for accuracy and completion.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Manages the day-to-day administration and eligibility benefits and compensation plans.
- Orders product(s) necessary for the department to perform
- Assists with the communication of new hire benefits during onboarding and/or orientation.
- Assists with the approval of monthly new hire benefit approvals, annual open enrollment processes and qualifying life change events.
- Administers personal, medical and Family Medical Leaves (FMLA) of absence programs including leave processing, approval and tracking.
- Conducts frequent benefit audits of all new enrollments/terminations/changes .
- Works with specified person to assist with the audits of all monthly benefits bills and helps resolve any billing discrepancies to ensure accurate payment and credits, if any.
- Develops and disseminates collateral and communication pieces to adequately explain to employees the workings of the various benefit and engagement programs.
- Participates in human resources activities including HR project management, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations and communications.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Assist and act as back up for the HR Specialists.
- Maintains and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal employment related laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Meets attendance guidelines and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the HR Leadership.
- At least two years Human Resources experience in the gaming or hospitality industry preferred.
- Must be able to perform each of the essential functions and responsibilities satisfactorily.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- Strong organizational and leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and dedicated commitment to excellence in addition to the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the employees throughout all levels of the Mount Airy Resort Casino.
- Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license as required by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn internal HRIS and talent management systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certification is preferred.
- Flexible to work any scheduled shifts and/or days, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
- Adequate manual dexterity to operate office equipment and engage in light lifting.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have working ability with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required with occasional travel.
- Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.

Position Overview:
The HR Generalist supports the daily functions of the Human Resources department to ensure smooth and efficient business operations. The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will help with the important functions such as reception, staffing, on-boarding, training and development, compensation and benefits. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Mount Airy Casino Resort policies and procedures, Internal Control standards and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board regulations.
