- Salary is dependent on commensurate experience above the minimum qualifications for the role and internal equity considerations.

- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a Human Resources Benefits function or within a Human Resources department required; demonstrated knowledge, track record and work experience with workers’ compensation, leave administration and HRIS (UKG Pro/UltiPro preferred). Employee benefit administration and workplace accommodation experience preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations including COBRA, Section 125 Cafeteria Plans, PPACA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADAAA, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- May be called upon to drive on agency business. Needs acceptable MVR and appropriate insurance coverage.

JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Leave Coordinator provides support in the day-to-day administration of the Human Resources benefits functions in the areas of leave of absence administration, employee health & welfare benefits plan administration, workers’ compensation, and workplace accommodation.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Administers the full-cycle leave of absence process under applicable federal and state leave laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Workers’ Compensation; responsible for leave-related tasks to include, but not limited to verifying leave eligibility, tracking and designating leave entitlements, generating/assembling and mailing timely initial and ongoing leave correspondences, processing leave entries in HRIS, and performing return-to-work and medical certification outreach.
• Facilitates leave and work status communications between employees on leave and their supervisors; communicates any access deactivation or reinstatement needs to IT.
• Monitors and tracks intermittent leaves; ensures certifications are up-to-date and that time off taken is within applicable leave parameters.
• Engages in the interactive process with employees; partners with supervisors where applicable to address work restrictions and determine any reasonable workplace accommodations.
• Liaise with Payroll to ensure accuracy and proper usage of sick/vacation hours in consideration of any State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefits integration.
• Processes Employment Development Department (EDD) verification notices pertaining to SDI and PFL benefits.
• Prepares benefits correspondences to employees on a leave of absence including premium due letters, COBRA notices, Life/AD&D conversion/portability forms, and premium adjustments for employees returning from a leave of absence.
• Provides general support for employee benefits; responds to employee benefits inquiries and qualifying life events, and assists with the Open Enrollment process.
• Processes and reports workers’ compensation claims; reviews injury/incident intake summaries, sends initial and ongoing correspondences, and coordinates any medical treatment referral needs in a timely manner.
• Facilitates work status communications between employees and their supervisors. Engages in the interactive process with employees; partners with supervisors where applicable to address any work restrictions and/or temporary modified duty requests and determine any reasonable workplace accommodations.
• Maintains timely and accurate recordkeeping of employee benefits files; gathers relevant files in response to subpoena requests.
• Responsible for reviewing, opening, scanning, and handling of physical mail and other administrative support for the HR Benefits department.
• Other duties as assigned.

DRIVING PRIVILEGES
Required to drive agency vehicle. Must have clean MVR, appropriate insurance coverage, and attend agency driver training.

Needs to successfully complete all required agency training indicated for this position.
