      Job Summary

      Provide primary human resources support to Student Affairs and Campus Life (SACL) units as part of a matrixed services delivery model. Areas of focus include drafting/revising position descriptions, developing search strategies and supporting search processes, managing temporary and interim position allocations, managing job performance appraisal processes, administering on-boarding efforts, and tracking compliance and training requirements. Position reports to the SACL Assistant Director of Administration and serves as a member of the SACL Human Resources leadership team.

      Essential Functions

      • Hiring Processes:
        • Serve as SACL lead for searches in one or more categories of employment; including, non-unit; professional; classified staff; graduate assistantship; post-doc/fellow/intern and/or student. Work with department heads in developing search strategies and related support requirements; ensure compliance with established policies and protocols.
        • Prepare search documentation for searches per established policy and procedure. Manage searches for classified staff positions. Ensure hiring paperwork is accurately completed and submitted and that new employees are on payroll in a timely manner.
      • Position Analysis and Strategic Planning:
        • Work with department heads to develop/revise position descriptions to ensure roles support operational and strategic needs. Shepherd position reviews through classification process.
        • Maintain SACL staffing rosters to current status; track vacant positions. Participate in staffing analyses related to strategic staffing asset alignments and allocations.
        • Develop and manage temporary and interim position allocations, including temporary additional duties and responsibilities (TADR) assignments needed to support SACL unit operations.
      • Process Implementation and Administration:
        • Ensure critical processes flow smoothly; seek resolution to barriers as needed. Processes include but are not limited to: new employee on-boarding; time and labor reporting; Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); job performance appraisals; ergonomic workstation reviews; and, off-boarding of employees (including exit interviews).
        • Assist in developing and implementing training plans for SACL Human Resources staff; lead training sessions, as requested. Perform/participate in job performance appraisals for SACL Human Resources team.
      • Functional Support:
        • Maintain current knowledge of related policies, practices and protocols. Maintain current knowledge of related collective bargaining agreements.
        • May participate in grievance process depending on interchangeability in the Matrix.
        • Ensure related training and reference materials are kept current.
        • Provide back-up for human resources functions when positions are vacant or during periods of staff leave; perform cross-functional tasks as needed in order to ensure timely completion. Provide leadership to aligned units as needed in absence of Associate Administrative Officer. Serve as human resources resource to SACL staff.

      Other Functions

      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

      • Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years experience working in a human resources environment, including one year supervisory experience or associate's degree with 6 years of experience including one year supervisory experience.
      • Contemporary knowledge of human resources best practices.
      • Superior organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage concurrent priorities.
      • Understanding of and adherence to applicable compliance requirements.
      • Excellent interpersonal communication skills coupled with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

      Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

      • Previous work experience in collective bargaining settings.
      • Previous work experience in higher education.
      • HRCI or SHRM Certified.

      Physical Demands/Working Conditions

      • Typical office environment.

      Work Schedule

      • Monday – Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
      • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
