Salary Range: $54,846.00 - $87,754.00

Reporting to the AVP Total Rewards, the HR Specialist will assist with the coordination of all leave programs at Albany Med. Will serve as a resource for colleagues and will comply with internal policies and procedures, including state and federal regulations. The HR Specialist will work closely with staff to ensure all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review. Maintains appropriate contact with staff on leave and helps coordinate return to work for those on leave. Works closely with the employee relations team to identify, research and recommend resolution. The successful candidate will be a service-oriented professional with strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated organizational, analytical and planning skills adaptable to rapidly changing organizational needs is required. Ability to compile and track reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases, follow policies and procedures that reflect industry best practices. Assists with the creation of educational material and staff communications and handles distribution. Participate and contribute to the Total Rewards Team. Responsible for the day-to-day administration of all leave programs, involving HR leadership as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Solid organizational and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills, ability to consistently provide timely red carpet concierge service
• Knowledge of state and federal laws related to leaves such as FMLA, NYPFL, NYHRL NYPSL
• Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external business partners
• Ability to convert related activities into work plans and detailed procedures
• Identify and raise opportunities and areas for improvement to manager
• Ability to handle routine claims, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Recognize when to ask for help and raise procedural irregularities to manager
• Ability to multi-task and keep on top of multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to prioritize and respond with appropriate level of urgency, stay on track and on-time, meet deliverables
• Ability to work with sensitive information in a high volume, a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information
• Ability to deliver difficult news in a transparent, compassionate and caring way
• Credible and professional, unquestionable integrity. Exhibits a strong work ethic and passion for work.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access databases, Workday experience a plus

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• One year of direct experience handling FMLA, STD and PFL leave cases preferred.
