      Job Description

      The Human Resources Associate provides advanced administrative HR services and support primarily in talent acquisition operations of the Human Resources (HR) department. It impacts student success by attracting top talent to the college through administration of the recruitment, hiring , and onboarding of faculty and staff. Responsibilities include strategic marketing of job postings, administering equity assessments of all postings, providing guidance and support for hiring supervisors and search advisory committees, administering salary placement process consistent with collective bargaining agreements and market trends analysis, and shepherding positions through the new employee process. Manage and coordinate, with the HR service center, the efficient processing of all personnel/payroll transactions in Workday and SEMA4 and ensure staff and customized training assignments follow policies, procedures and contract guidelines.

      This position also provides a welcoming environment in HR for employees, candidates, and guests - in person, on the phone and via e-mail, and assists professional HR staff with special projects and complex technical assignments. This position has access to documents/data containing labor relations information and serves as a resource to the management team for labor relations information, as defined in M.S. 13.37.

      Responsibilities

      • Work in partnership with HR team members and the HR Service Center to ensure timely and accurate processing in the HR information systems of record (SEMA4, Workday, HR Campus, ISRS) of job changes, hires, separations, position changes, salary changes, leaves of absence, evaluations, and so forth for employees.

      • Administer the recruiting process for the college through collaboration, communication, and coaching with HR team members, hiring supervisors, and search advisory committees. Ensure job postings are complete, assessed for equity, and strategically marketed to attract diverse talent pools. Provide expertise and support for the talent acquisition process.

      • Maintain employee personnel files following departmental standard operating procedures for all employees.

      • Provides support to all HR staff, as assigned, for occasional, recurring, and on-going assignments or projects to ensure the smooth functioning of the HR department

      Salary Range:

      $23.26 - $32.79 / hourly; $48,566 - $68,465 / annually

      Minimum Qualifications

      • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of administrative HR experience relating to talent acquisition.

      • Strong customer service and human relations skills sufficient to interact with courtesy, respect, and professionalism with individuals of varying educational levels and diverse backgrounds to create a positive impression and experience working with the Human Resources office.

      • Working knowledge of Federal and Minnesota employment laws;

      • Communication skills, both verbal and written, that reflect adequate response, tact and accurate information with attention to sensitivity, diplomacy and confidentiality

      • Proficiency using e-mail, spreadsheets, databases and word processing software.

      • Demonstrated ability to learn new computer software systems and office processes.

      • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to refocus and concentrate on complicated issues with accuracy, in an environment with frequent interruptions.

      Preferred Qualification

      • Associates degree or higher in office management, HR or related area;

      • Working knowledge of human resource management information systems and applicant tracking systems;

      • Understanding of the Minnesota Data Practices Act sufficient to describe the differences in public and private information.

      • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

      • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with utmost discretion.

      • Ability and commitment to collaborate and develop effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and at different levels in the college.

      • Initiative, flexibility, and adaptability to adjust to changing work.

      • A general knowledge and understanding of higher education processes.

      In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
