What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Coordinate and develop in-house transportation improvement projects during design and construction phases
- Serve as an assistant construction project leader, performing inspection and assurance testing
- Investigate and resolve testing differences between the employer and contractors
- Assist in completing studies, reports, documentation, plans, and specifications for projects
- Conduct fieldwork, including working in adverse weather conditions and high-volume traffic
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Entry-level candidates must have education OR experience with engineering principles and methods
- Senior-level candidates must have extensive education OR experience with engineering principles and methods
- Ability to acquire and maintain certifications through the Highway Materials Certification Program
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork assignments and attend trainings and meetings
- Physical ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. and carry it over varying terrain
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience using engineering software, reviewing plats or surveys, and reading technical documents
- Background in construction inspection and material testing
- Familiarity with preparing plans and bid documents
