      The Bureau of Information Technology within the Division of Management Services is seeking applicants for an IS Technical Services Specialist position. This role is part of a small, collaborative team with broad authority and responsibility, offering flexibility in managing a diverse and impactful workload.       This position will play a key role in creating modern collaboration experiences at DPI and with our partners, while supporting a major organizational initiative to transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365.

      Position Summary

      This position provides leadership and works within a collaborative team environment to set advanced technical direction, problem solve, troubleshoot, diagnose, evaluate and resolve information systems infrastructure and application issues. This position performs agency-wide system monitoring and capacity analysis of agency technical resources and provides continuous evaluation to maintain optimal information systems infrastructure and security.

      Salary Information

      Depending on qualifications, the salary will be between $44.00 - $51.00 per hour (approximately $91,520 - $106,080 per year). For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at time of hire. This position is in pay schedule 07, range 03. A one-year probationary period will be required.

      Job Details

      Remote Work : This position allows for up to 100% remote work within the State of Wisconsin, with the expectation that the employee maintains secure, high-speed internet access. Remote work from neighboring states may be approved only in very rare and limited circumstances. Please note that remote work arrangements may be rescinded at any time based on business needs, and employees may occasionally be required to report to a Wisconsin work location on short notice.

      Headquarters : The position is headquartered at 201 W. Washington Ave. in Madison, WI, and employees are required to report there on their first day of employment. In addition, the employee may need to report to their headquarter location as operational needs require. Reimbursement for traveling to or from the employee's headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.).

      Pre-hire requirements : A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of hire.

      Legal authorization : Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., without DPI sponsorship). The Department of Public Instruction does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

      Qualifications

      Please address the following in your resume and/or letter of qualifications .

      A minimally qualified applicant must have all the below:

      • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services (i.e., Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, or Office)
      • Experience configuring and maintaining SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, and/or permissions
      • Experience managing identity and access using enterprise tools (e.g., Entra ID, Okta, Ping) including single sign on (SSO), multifactor authentication (MFA), or conditional access
      • Experience implementing or supporting data retention, labeling, or compliance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview or similar tools)
      • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure (e.g., servers, cloud services, hardware/software installation, maintenance, or upgrades)
      Please note that a college degree is not required for this position.

      Well-qualified applicants will also have some of the following:
      • Experience developing or supporting automation using PowerShell, Power Automate, or Power Platform
      • Experience administering forms, survey, or eSignature platforms (e.g., DocuSign or similar tools)
      • Experience analyzing business needs and translating them into technical solutions or system designs
      • Experience implementing or improving collaboration environments (e.g., SharePoint architecture, Teams structure)
      • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services in a government or education environment
      • Experience leading or serving as primary administrator for Microsoft 365 or SharePoint environments
