Job Title: IT Healthcare Consultant - Project Manager - Project Lead ( 9814)
Location: Columbia, SC 29210
Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Interview Process: 1 Round - Virtual
Candidate Requirement: Must be a South Carolina resident (No relocation allowed)
Position Overview
The IT Healthcare Consultant will serve as a Project Manager / Project Lead and function as a Product Owner for one or more MES Core components. This role requires strong Medicaid domain expertise, systems integration experience, and Agile leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as Product Owner for MES Core modules
• Define product capabilities and roadmap
• Break down capabilities into epics, features, and user stories
• Create, prioritize, and manage the product backlog
• Document epics and stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with development teams to refine and estimate stories
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
• Provide continuous product guidance and clarification
• Review and sign off on completed stories
• Act as liaison between MES Core team and external stakeholders
• Support production issue resolution and troubleshooting
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the agency
Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 5+ years equivalent Project Management experience
• 5+ years experience working with State Medicaid systems
• 3+ years experience as a Project Manager or similar leadership role
• 2+ years experience in systems integration, data exchange, and/or data transformation
• 1+ year experience working on large IT projects
• 5+ years experience with X12 Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions
• 5+ years experience working with APIs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
• Project Management Certification (PMP preferred)
• 3+ years experience as an Agile Product Owner
