      NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a IT Specialist (Applications Software) to join our team!

      This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.

      Duties


      Working as an Information Technology Specialist (Applications Software) in the Office of Information Systems Management, Application Systems Division, Salesforce Development Team, you will serve as the representative of the NIST Salesforce Developer team and will be responsible for operations and maintenance and continual software development of CHIPS implementations on Salesforce and MuleSoft Platform as well as existing and future NIST Salesforce solutions.

      The selected individual will serve as NIST expert in program field and will perform duties to ensure quality of products and processes. Monitor system performance and provide suggestions and/or alternative approaches when applicable. Work with contractors and partners to troubleshoot issues reported by the end-users, document the solutions, and implement resolutions. Document implemented solutions, software engineering designs, source code, test plans, operations manuals, contributes to software security plans, and conducts testing. Ensure NIST Salesforce Development Team standards and IT Security directives are maintained and followed during implementation.

      Collaborate with internal and external partners, contractors, and Project Managers on design, deployment, and operation and maintenance to achieve successful implementation of CHIPS program requirements and improve overall operability of the CHIPS implementation.

      Qualifications


      Basic Requirements:
      Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
      For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
      1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
      2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
      3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
      4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
      Specialized Experience:
      In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience includes: Experience in Salesforce such as APEX, SOQL, Triggers and Controllers, Salesforce APIs, Lightning, Experience Platform, Lightning Web Component, Java, and/or MuleSoft platform development. Experience with Agile Software Development Methodology including but not limited to designing, developing, testing, debugging, deploying, and customizing web applications.

      Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
