      The IT Specialist is a crucial member of the Information Technology (IT) department responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the organization’s technological infrastructure. This role involves a diverse range of tasks, including hardware and software support, network administration, troubleshooting, system maintenance, and user assistance. The IT Specialist will collaborate with other IT professionals to provide technical solutions that enhance the organization’s overall performance and productivity.


      Responsibilities

      Technical Support:

      • Provide frontline technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve problems reported by users, utilizing a systematic and methodical approach.
      • Offer remote assistance and/or on-site support as required, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

      Hardware and Software Management:

      • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals.
      • Install, upgrade, and maintain software applications across various platforms, ensuring proper functionality and security.
      • Keep track of software licenses and ensure compliance with software usage agreements.

      Network Administration:

      • Administer and maintain the organization’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
      • Monitor network performance, diagnose connectivity issues, and implement solutions to optimize network efficiency and security.
      • Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access to network resources.

      System Maintenance:

      • Perform regular system updates, patches, and security upgrades to maintain the health and security of IT systems.
      • Conduct routine system backups and implement disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
      • Monitor system logs for errors, anomalies, and security breaches, taking appropriate actions as necessary.

      Security and Compliance:

      • Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard sensitive information and protect against cyber threats.
      • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
      • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends and best practices to proactively address emerging threats.

      Documentation and Training:

      • Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides.
      • Provide training to end-users on software applications, security protocols, and technology best practices to enhance user skills and awareness.

      Project Collaboration:

      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and manage IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and technology rollouts.
      • Assist in evaluating and recommending new hardware and software solutions that align with the organization’s goals and requirements.

      Qualifications

      • Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), etc.
      • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, network protocols, and security principles.
      • Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues and providing effective solutions.
      • Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
      • Experience with scripting languages, virtualization, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity is a plus.
      • Amenable to working in shifting (night) schedules (US-hours)
