      About Novel Capital

Novel Capital is a U.S.-based fintech providing non-dilutive financing to post-revenue AI, software, and tech founders. We've partnered with over 170 companies and provided them more than $200M in capital to fuel their growth. Powered by real-time data and AI, our platform delivers fast, transparent financing aligned with founders.

Backed by top investors like Ulu Ventures, Ignia Partners and MatterScale Ventures, we're a lean, high-velocity team building the operational infrastructure to match our growth ambitions.
      The Role

We're looking for a Junior Account Executive who wants to build their career in sales, closing deals that matter. This is a quota-carrying, closing role: you own qualified opportunities from discovery through signed term sheet, working inbound and outbound pipeline alongside our BDR team. You report directly to the Manager of Sales.

The right candidate most likely launched their career in venture debt or startup banking and already speaks the language of founders, VCs, and the startup ecosystem. You are a hunter who can read a P&L and a balance sheet, understand lending mechanics, and translate debt concepts into a conversation a founder actually wants to have.

You will work directly with our underwriting and executive teams, gaining exposure most junior salespeople never get. As Novel scales, this seat is designed to grow with you into a senior, high-impact role on the sales team.
      What You'll Own
      Pipeline and Deal Management
      • Own a portfolio of active opportunities from qualification through close, managing deal timelines, stakeholder follow-up, and next steps with precision
      • Run discovery, term proposal, and closing meetings with founder CEOs and CFOs, leading with financial fluency and founder empathy
      • Coordinate with underwriting and credit on deal structuring, diligence requirements, and exception handling
      • Maintain a clean, up-to-date pipeline in Salesforce at all times; lead your own deal flow reviews with management weekly
      Outbound Hunting and Prospecting
      • Generate net-new pipeline through proactive outbound to founders and CFOs
      • Partner closely with the BDR team to convert outbound meetings into qualified, closable pipeline
      • Work warm referrals, inbound leads, and your own network to keep pipeline full ahead of quota
      • Attend tech conferences and industry events to represent Novel Capital, build relationships, and source new pipeline
      Financial Analysis and Qualification
      • Review prospect financials including P&Ls and balance sheets to assess fit prior to term proposal
      • Conduct pre-qualification analysis using Novel's underwriting criteria to prioritize high-probability opportunities
      • Translate complex financing terms into clear, founder-friendly language that accelerates decision-making
      Market Intelligence and Feedback
      • Synthesize deal feedback and objection patterns into actionable insights for marketing, product, and leadership
      • Stay current on the venture debt and alternative lending landscape to position Novel's product effectively against alternatives

      Requirements
      What We're Looking For
      Must-Have
      • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
      • 1 to 3 years of B2B sales or business development experience in venture debt, startup banking, or growth lending
      • Working familiarity with the U.S. startup and venture ecosystem
      • Proficient reading and interpreting financial statements well enough to qualify opportunities
      • Working knowledge of core debt concepts such as cost of capital, debt service, and repayment structures
      • Clear, credible written and verbal communication with founders, CEOs, and CFOs
      • Proficiency with CRM systems, Salesforce preferred
      • Hunter mentality: you pursue net-new business relentlessly, not account management or farming
      • High ownership: you manage your pipeline independently and drive deals to resolution

      Strong Plus
      • Formal training in the Sandler Selling System or a comparable sales methodology
      • Prior exposure to revenue-based financing, recurring revenue lending, or ARR-backed credit products
      • A personal connection to entrepreneurship or the startup ecosystem
      Who Thrives Here

The right candidate for this role:
      • Thrives on hitting targets and treats a "no" as motivation, not a setback
      • Closes with conviction, building trust through financial credibility, not just rapport
      • Is hungry to learn the mechanics of lending and credit
      • Communicates proactively: flags deal risks early and brings recommendations, not just status
      • Operates with urgency, manages multiple deals at once, and stays genuinely curious about how technology companies grow

      Benefits
      Why Join Novel Capital
      • Be part of a fintech startup using state-of-the-art technology to transform how tech founders access capital and grow their companies.
      • Get exposure to the U.S. tech startup ecosystem, working alongside founders, VCs, and operators building the next generation of tech companies.
      • Join a lean, high-velocity team where your work has visible impact from day one.
      • Build your sales career in a high-performance fintech environment, with a clear path into senior closing and leadership as the company scales.
      • Competitive compensation built to reward closers: $50K to $60K base, $100K+ on-target earnings, and uncapped commission.
