- Actively monitor student behavior in the K12 Zone to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Provide real-time feedback on observed needs, including zone operations and student behavior.
- Engage in and monitor communication/activities between students and respond to zone needs.
- Assist in maintaining the K12 Zone as needed.
- Offer input and advice on student-facing materials and resources, such as Leadership Portfolios, ORN, and Back-to-School Week activities.
- Greet and engage students in a friendly and professional manner.
- Lead or participate in games and activities to promote student engagement and relationship-building.
- Support resource development by working on special projects (e.g., building/creating new resources for student use).
- Other duties as assigned based on program needs.
- Enrollment: Currently a high school student enrolled in a K12 Texas virtual school (Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville, Texas Online Preparatory School, Digital Academy of Texas, or Lone Star Online Academy).
- Parental/School Consent: Required to participate, as well as any necessary work permits per state law.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Canva for asset and scene creation; basic proficiency in Excel or similar tools for tracking projects.
- Virtual Environment Comfort: Experience or interest in virtual environments or gaming, with a readiness to work in an online setting.
- Personal Traits: Self-starter with a creative mindset and the ability to independently pursue ideas and tasks with minimal oversight.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to actively observe, assess, and respond to student behavior appropriately.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take initiative in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable giving constructive feedback and participating in program improvement discussions.
- Experience working with students or in youth programs.
- Willingness to build a portfolio showcasing projects completed during the internship.
- Capable of managing time effectively to complete tasks within the weekly 3-hour work limit.
- Willing to collaborate in a team environment, provide input during meetings, and communicate effectively with the program manager.

The K12 Zone Assistant is a temporary part-time position working 15 hours/week, May 27 - July 25. It will play a key role in supporting a positive, engaging, and well-managed environment for students participating in the K12 Zone summer program. The role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations, monitoring student behavior, and providing valuable feedback to improve zone activities and resources for the upcoming school year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a virtual part-time position open to residents of Texas currently enrolled in a Stride-powered, Texas-based virtual school. The position is for 15 hours/week at $15/hour for a two-month term (May 27, 2025 to July 25, 2025). K12 Zone Hours will vary depending on campus needs. Assistants will need to be available between 10AM to 4PM CST.
