      The Lancashire SAFE Centre is looking for its next centre manager to lead the service and enable its readiness for UKAS accreditation by October 2025.

      The centre is a niche specialism in its own right that provides forensic examination to those patients who have sadly experienced sexual assault. The service provides cover 24/7 365 days a week via on call crisis workers and sexual offence examiners to the population of Lancashire and South Cumbria.

      We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and driven individual to lead our service through the upcoming UKAS accreditation process alongside the newly recruited quality manager to enable us to continue to provide excellent quality care to those patients attending the service at such a challenging time of their lives. You will work alongside the matron and clinical director will need to work closely with Lancashire Police, Victim support, safeguarding and NHS England to deliver this high quality service.

      Main duties of the job

      Reporting to the matron for gynaecology and SAFE centre, and working closely with the clinical director the centre manager will be accountable for leading the team and the service operation at the Lancashire SAFE Centre. You will form part of a small team within the centre responsible for coordinating all aspects of the centre activity, including the UKAS accreditation process and the ongoing maintenance, once achieved.

      The centre manager will lead in the recruitment and training of crisis workers and will line manager the substantive team members and on call crisis workers.

      The centre manager will be required to support the matron and clinical director in attending external meetings in relation to police and NHS England commissioning as well as providing support to the clinical director to produce the monthly on call rota for the Centre as well as support in data entry, data analysis and report writing.

      The centre manager will also be required to train to hold the role of crisis worker, supporting any cases during the core hours of the service where there may be rota gaps, non-recent cases and also the monthly GUM clinic.

      Communicate with all levels of staff from the Trust and Police within the Sexual Assault network providing advice, feedback and reports regarding complex, sensitive issues.

      Provide a key link between the departments senior management team, ensuring that programmes of work are co-coordinated effectively and deadlines met.

      Accountable for the delivery of UKAS accreditation and yearly maintenance of the standards to ensure accreditation is maintained.

      Support the matron and clinical director in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards in the SAFE Centre

      To support the service to maintain a quality management system and roll out core training for all staff on how to use it

      Act as a point of contact deal with all forms of enquiries/visitors (telephone/face to face, correspondence) in a competent and professional manner, maintaining a professional image appropriate to the office manager role and creating a positive image of the organisation. Will respond to medical, police enquiries, and others as appropriate

      Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within the role

      Communicates all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team, both internally and external organisations as required.

      Ensures environment safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for UKAS accreditation

      Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards for documentation

      Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals accessing the SAFE Centre

      Ensure rota is maintained and distributed to the relevant organisations

      Line management responsibility for the workforce

      Financial Management - Within specific area of responsibility ensure robust financial controls are in place, resources are effectively utilised and relevant financial targets are achieved

      Ensure clinical governance and risk management processes within the service provided at Lancashire SAFE Centre is agreed through the relevant existing governance procedures and escalated as needed

      Essential

      • Educated to degree level or has substantial demonstrable experience
      • Leadership & Management qualification or completion of development programme relevant to role.

      Desirable

      • Registered Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional
      • NMC / HCPC Registration
      • Project management qualification
      • Teaching qualification / mentorship qualification
      • Level 3 ILM (Institute of leadership and management) or equivalent

      Knowledge & Experience

      Essential

      • Knowledge of clinical governance and safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice
      • Awareness of the Forensic Regulator guidelines and how they fit into SARCs
      • Previous experience of working in an NHS organisation
      • Knowledge of the appraisal and development process
      • Line management experience / experience of leading a team
      • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
