      Leads, coordinates, and participates in clerical and administrative support functions.
      • Compose and type letters, memos, and reports from verbal or written instructions;
      • Arrange meetings and travel;
      • Perform administrative functions related to records management, and preparation of vouchers for expenses;
      • Prepare confidential correspondence;
      • Explain policies and procedures;
      • Answer phones and greet visitors; provide assistance;
      • Lead and coordinate activities of clerical support staff;
      • Interview and assist in selection of clerical staff and provide input for employee evaluation;
      • Develop and implement file and records management procedures;
      • Maintain a calendar of events for supervisor by making appointments, scheduling conferences, confirming meetings, and reminding supervisor of commitments;
      • Collect and assemble information needed by supervisor for special projects, reports, and meetings. Maintain records and prepare report summaries from retrieved information;
      • Maintain a variety of official records and reports, publish legally required notices.
      Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three to six years of increasingly responsible secretarial experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

      Valid Driver's LicenseKnowledge of:
      • The organization, function, and policy of a municipal government;
      • General budgeting and personnel practices;
      • Office practices and procedures;
      • Basic computer principles and procedures;
      • Basic mathematical principles and methods;
      • Proper public contact and telephone etiquette.
      Ability to:
      • Spell and use good grammar;
      • Work under pressure;
      • Supervise the work of others;
      • Transcribe material from a recording system;
      • Communicate effectively with others;
      • Perform computer/word processing functions;
      • Maintain confidential data and information.
      Physical Requirements
      • Occasionally bend and kneel during the shift;
      • Occasionally lift and carry up to 10 pounds;
      • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
      • Push and pull objects;
      • Place arms above, at or below shoulder height;
      • Type on a compute keyboard.
