What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct regular monitoring to determine the accuracy of medical record coding and abstracting
- Maintain records of audits and share results with coders as a teaching mechanism
- Provide coding information and advice to a team of coders
- Code diagnoses and procedures for all medical records according to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines
- Orient and train employees in coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience, with at least 1 year in the specialty being overseen
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience utilizing Epic's electronic health record and 360 Encompass Encoder
