What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct reviews to validate I-10-CM diagnosis codes and PCS procedure codes for inpatient billing
- Manage daily DNFB and DNFC reports and work queues for un-coded or outstanding records
- Provide mentoring support to coders and manage coding improvements
- Ensure coding compliance and accuracy for hospital records
- Collaborate with the Coding Manager on education and training for the coding team
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of five (5) years of coding experience in an acute hospital setting
- Three (3) years of experience leading a coding team
- Proficiency in coding software and Health Information Management systems
- Knowledge of coding audits, denials management, and documentation improvement
- Must possess a credential such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Graduate of a medical coding program or an associate degree in a healthcare-related field
- Experience with ICD10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding and reimbursement regulations
- Familiarity with revenue cycle workflows and charge master processes
