Position Summary:
Reporting to the Employment Supervisor/Manager the Lead Job Coach is vital in ensuring that individuals placed in employment opportunities are not only navigating their current job successfully but are also being encouraged to pursue growth and promotional opportunities. This role supports individuals by tailoring coaching strategies that can start at 100% support and fade down to the amount of intervention that ensures the highest level of independence while maintaining success in their roles. The Lead Job Coach also mentors and/or trains other job coaches, ensuring they possess the confidence and skills to provide high-quality coaching, while simultaneously respecting the workplace culture and the dignity of the individuals they support.Key Responsibilities:
• Provide Direct Job Coaching: Support individuals in various job, educational, and internship roles, ensuring they understand their duties, meet performance expectations, and work toward independence. Fading support gradually as appropriate, without compromising their success.
• Provides immediate coaching needs on short notice, ensuring that supported individuals have job coaching consistently, according to their support needs.
• Mentor and Train Job Coaches: Develop, train, and mentor other job coaches, helping them move fluidly between various job sites and individuals. Ensure all job coaches maintain respect for the employer’s culture while supporting individuals.
• Promote Career Growth: Assist individuals in identifying and pursuing promotional opportunities and career advancement within their workplace.
• Respect for Workplace Culture: Develop strategies for supporting individuals in a way that blends with the existing work environment, maintaining harmony and professionalism in all job placements.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Complete progress reports and updates to plans for employment, education, and internships as needed across multiple service delivery levels with a focus on quality of services and timely reporting.• Collaboration with Employers: Communicate regularly with employers to ensure alignment on performance expectations and adjustments to coaching strategies as necessary.
• Adapt to Dynamic Schedules: Manage a fluid schedule that may include multiple individuals and job sites, balancing the needs of employers and employees alike.
• Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain a high standard of confidentiality, professionalism, and respect for the privacy and dignity of the individuals being coached and the employers.
• Flexible Support: Be available for flexible hours, including possible evenings and weekends, to meet the diverse needs of job sites and individuals being coached.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain clear and detailed records of coaching activities, progress, and any changes in support levels.Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred), associates degree or equivalent credit total (or related certifications e.g. ANCOR, CESP, etc.) and a minimum of three years of experience working in the employment arena with people who experience neurodiversity or developmental disabilities.
• Leadership skills to train and guide other job coaches.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance the needs of multiple individuals and job sites.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals, employers, and other job coaches.
• Ability to adapt coaching styles to fit individual needs while respecting the workplace culture.
• Ability to manage a dynamic schedule, including travel between various job sites.
• Must be comfortable working with diverse personalities and job environments.
• Driving is required; must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of Regional Center and Department of Rehabilitation services is a plus.Why This Role Matters:
