      Lead Nuclear QA Audit Specialist (Vendor Quality, External Supplier Audits)- Virtual

      Summary

      The Lead Nuclear QA Audit Specialist is responsible for the oversight of supplier quality assurance programs per regulatory requirements. These individuals will lead and/or participate on a broad range of QA, regulatory, NUPIC audits and Commercial Grade Surveys in support of Duke Energy Nuclear Generation. These could include supplier audits of nuclear fuel fabrication, manufacturing, engineering, software, dry cask storage, materials & contract services, Access Authorization/Fitness for Duty/Health & Human Services, and Commercial Grade Dedication. These audits and commercial grade surveys include review of relevant quality, technical, human performance, programmatic, and organizational elements & attributes. Qualified individuals in this title shall be capable of leading audits that are technically complex, including first-time audits of new or revised regulatory topics, including FOAK (First of a Kind) products.

      These individuals apply a broad perspective to analyze activities and information, provide insights relative to supplier performance & management, verify programs & processes are producing the desired results, and identify gaps to industry best practices. In addition to audits and commercial grade surveys, individuals at this level will perform surveillance on plant equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, transformers, and breakers, periodically this individual will be required to perform in a Project Management role to support supplier oversight activities for complex plant projects and modifications.

      These individuals will travel 60%-80% of the time and work independently to consistently meet or exceed goals and objectives, take ownership of issues, and communicate concerns and process recommendations effectively to multiple levels of supplier and utility management.

      Responsibilities:

      Performs audits and in-process surveillance in an area of specialized subject matter (i.e., nuclear fuel fabrication, dry fuel storage, Major Projects) for Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet.

      Participates in and/or leads audit preparation, as a Certified Lead Auditor: Collects and evaluates relevant data and prepares for audits; assures adequate staffing of audit team; develops and issues Audit Plans; develops audit checklists; and trains/qualifies subject matter experts, as required.

      Lead Auditor Certification, NUPIC Lead Auditor Qualified: leads or participates in select QA and other regulatory required audits and commercial grade surveys; leads Entrance Meetings; reviews relevant documentation, performs interviews, performs walk-downs, and conducts observations; documents audit objective evidence, per requirements; provides periodic updates to key stakeholders and management; and leads exit meetings.

      Lead Auditor participates in or assists with audit exit and closeout writes corrective action program entries on issues, as required by procedure, or as directed by the Audit Team Lead; contributes to report development for assigned areas; writes, or contributes to, final audit report, as assigned; supports closeout of audit package, as requested; and supports or performs assigned programmatic activities /tasks in support of the audit function.

      Basic/Required Qualifications:

      Minimum of high school diploma or GED.

      7 Years Supplier Audit and Oversight.

      Lead Auditor Certified.

      Desired Qualifications:

      NUPIC Lead Auditor Qualified

      B.S in Engineering or other technical discipline.

      Demonstrated strong written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills, and ability to deliver messages in a compelling manner.

      Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and ability to effectively facilitate resolution of divergent views.

      Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to ensure that goals and objectives are met.

      Detailed knowledge of Nuclear Procurement Issues Corporation (NUPIC).

      Detailed knowledge of nuclear quality assurance programs, (NQA-1, ANSI N45.2).

      Demonstrated ability to interact with management at multiple levels within audited organizations to communicate clear, concise, and compelling issues.

      Demonstrated and recognized strong leadership skills.

      Working knowledge of Nuclear Procurement Program and Commercial Grade Dedication processes for surveys and source inspections (Supplier Audit).

      Specified Area of Expertise (Subject Matter Expert) such as: working knowledge and technical experience in nuclear fuel fabrication, mechanical & electrical equipment, Environmental/Seismic Qualification, or instrumentation and control equipment.

      Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products, databases, and mobile technologies.

      Specific Requirements:

      Candidate must have and maintain a driver’s license.

      Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US Passport.

      Candidate should expect work outside normal business hours.

      Frequent travel 60 – 80%, including U.S. domestic and international.

      Working Conditions:

      The candidate can expect the working environment to include office, manufacturing, construction, and testing facilities.

      Domestic and international travel by air, car, public transportation.
