      Position Summary

      This position will support the development, enablement and evaluation of pricing initiatives across the six states in which Duke Energy operates. Employee will work on rate designs and customer programs related to clean energy, demand response, battery storage and electric vehicles, among others. The position blends regulatory strategy, creative problem solving and data analytics. Employee will utilize Python, SQL and SAS to analyze large datasets, to perform modeling and financial calculations, and to draw insights on load patterns and rate design.

      Employees at this level are able to perform complex modeling and financial analysis with little supervision. Employee has developed an understanding of the principles of ratemaking and is able to research and recommend ratemaking treatment for new transactions. Able to provide guidance to others both internal and external to the group, however not expected to develop others yet. Works independently across multiple disciplines and departments effectively. Developing an understanding of industry issues and rules and how these issues may affect regulatory processes. Develops good working relationships and works to create relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Developing skills in conflict management. Listens attentively and able to communicate both orally and in written form proficiently. Able to present ideas and concepts clearly. Not expected to testify at this level but supports testimony of others.

      Responsibilities

      • Leading and resolving strategic company or jurisdictional initiatives

      • Deriving value from rate designs and programs through customer engagement, program enablement, measurement and verification (M&V), and design feedback

      • Cost of service and rate analysis leveraging billing and meter data

      • Modeling and financial analysis for rates and programs

      • Regulatory strategy analysis, reporting and filing support

      • Rate calculation tools and other customer resources

      • Industry research and benchmarking

      Required/Basic Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or other related degree AND six (6) years minimum required related experience

      Desired Qualifications

      • CPA

      • Chartered Financial Analyst

      • Certified Management Accountant


      Working Conditions

      • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
