What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Design, implement, and maintain a stateless decision service in Java, ensuring immutability and no internal state mutations
- Lead the integration and evolution of the rules execution layer, establishing practices for versioning and validation
- Publish and maintain OpenAPI specifications for decision endpoints and integrate model scores through stable interfaces
- Engineer for low-latency and high-availability targets, implementing strategies for graceful degradation
- Develop and maintain an append-only Decision Ledger for auditability and observability of decision outcomes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 8+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role
- Deep expertise in Java/JVM, with a strong background in developing low-latency APIs
- Proven experience with distributed systems and contract-first API development
- Direct experience implementing rules engines with technologies such as Drools/DMN or IBM ODM
- Demonstrated discipline in achieving determinism, versioning, and auditability
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Track record of delivering real-time decisioning or policy services at scale
- Experience designing DSLs or optimizing rules engines for performance
- Background in regulated industries with strong data controls
- Proficiency with related stacks, such as Python for offline analysis
