What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as Washington State's lead representative for responding to and cleaning up hazardous materials spills
- Train and mentor team members on spill response and cleanup procedures
- Conduct hands-on cleanup work, including sampling and managing hazardous waste
- Document cases to support enforcement and cost recovery efforts
- Participate in on-call duty rotation for after-hours emergency response
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Nine years of experience in environmental work or related fields
- Experience responding to spills, conducting sampling, and managing hazardous waste
- Proven ability to direct cleanup operations during environmental emergencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hazardous Materials Technician Certification and ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications required at application time
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Team leadership experience in environmental response
- Familiarity with Washington Labor and Industry HAZWOPER safety regulations
- Experience working in Unified Command with federal and Tribal agencies
- Proficiency with electronic tools for emergency response, such as GPS and data systems
- Knowledge of community air monitoring and waste sampling techniques
