- Promotes the destination to tour operators, receptive operators, wholesalers, travel advisors, consortiums, tour directors, and consumers at travel focused shows.
- Updates and manages client information, correspondence, and activity in customer relationship management (CRM) system.
- Negotiates and mediates clients and partners information.
- Provides trip reports and reports all travel expenses for all trade shows and client events.
- Serves as a liaison between VisitSPC partners and the travel trade.
- Implements leisure travel sales Initiatives that bring travelers to stay overnight generating bed tax dollars for the destination.
- Implements client events, sales calls, and partnership initiatives.
- Manages the leisure travel budget to generate the greatest return for partners.
- Creates and maintains marketing partnerships with airlines, online travel agencies (OTA's), and other Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs).
- Creates and maintains marketing partnerships and memberships in the leisure travel industry.
- Educates the community on the benefits of the VisitSPC.
- Reports monthly leisure travel KPIs to gage performance.
- Plans and executes FAM educational visits to the destination; and
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
- Four (4) years of technical and specialized experience in leisure travel sales or experience as a hotel sales manager; or
- An Associate’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of experience as described above; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Florida Driver's License.
- Valid passport.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position.
- 4 years of professional experience in leisure travel sales or hotel sales.
- Familiarity with the greater St. Pete-Clearwater area.
- Knowledge of the leisure sales principles, practices, and procedures;
- Knowledge of public relations, marketing, activations, community relations, digital and social media;
- Knowledge of creating new sales initiatives and county familiarization (FAM) tours;
- Skill in office management, computer literacy, Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, communication, organization, telephone and email etiquette;
- Skill in scheduling and task management to obtain established goals and objectives;
- Skill in exercising discretion and judgement on a consistent basis;
- Ability to develop feeder markets and create partnerships with the travel trade to bring in revenue;
- Ability to conduct destination presentations via the web, in person and through video and television media;
- Ability to analyze hotel marketing and revenue initiatives;
- Ability to provide consultation or advice to management;
- Ability to promote and maintain effective departmental, inter-departmental, and public relations;
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

This is a specialized position working for Pinellas County’s Destination Marketing Organization also known as Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VisitSPC) and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. This position is responsible for promoting and selling travel-related products and services to individuals and groups seeking leisure and vacation experiences. The primary focus of this position is to attract tourists and travelers to St. Pete-Clearwater destinations, hotels, resorts, and other leisure-related businesses. Work is performed under the general supervision of the department director with considerable latitude for independent judgment and initiative.
