What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist the public with collections and services at the Library Reference Desk
- Provide research assistance via email, telephone, and in-person inquiries
- Support Reference Librarians with various clerical projects
- Address customer complaints and inquiries in a timely and courteous manner
- Learn and utilize current reference databases to assist a diverse audience
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current UW graduate student or advanced undergraduate with a work-study award
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Familiarity with office methods and software, including word processing
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Interest in historical research and public services
- Experience in customer service or library settings
- Knowledge of current reference databases
