Essential Functions:

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned judicial staff; develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; assists with complex difficult situations and provides technical expertise; trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures; and conducts staff meetings and training.
Manages all aspects of the criminal litigation process for matters comprising the criminal docket of a trial court judge/division. Provide case flow support to divisions of court and/or judges as assigned, by coordinating and managing the litigation process within the parameters specified for the designated court division.
Creates and implements case flow strategies based upon analysis of statistical data and application of principles of differentiated case management. Reviews and prioritizes complex and urgent case issues. Develops and monitors case management and case progression plans for appropriateness and revises and redirects case management plans and strategies as necessary.
Plans court events, creates and publishes court calendars and notices. Schedules and coordinates logistics and planning associated with conducting complex jury trials and evidential hearings. Applies training and experience to caseload to identify and ensure emergency issues are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated time frames and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including purchasing card reports, time sheets, leave reports, invoices, court calendars, and legal documents.
Generates reports and spreadsheets and reviews statistical data generated by the court’s computer case management system. Updates defendant and criminal case status and statistical information, reports, and dispositions on the computer, and other court systems as required.
Maintains, evaluates and documents statistics regarding jury system; maintains statistical data on various aspects of jury system; evaluates sufficiency of juror yield; provides courts with statistics regarding jury trials, jury usage and juror expenses; and prepares/compiles technical, analytical, and juror issue reports.
Serves as liaison between the assigned judge and county, state and federal criminal justice departments and agencies as required. Provides lead direction and guidance to attorneys, litigants, and patrons of the court, other court employees and other agency representatives.
Performs related duties in the courtroom, such as coordinating paperwork, recording dispositions, providing technical guidance and information as required. Attends meetings as directed; and testifies in court as to juror issues, statements, and actions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate and Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, or a related field required; three years of progressively responsible experience managing court programs, providing judicial services, or related field, to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; and must possess and maintain Notary Public certification.
