- Serves as JetBlue University’s regulatory expert on recency, training, checking, and qualification including 14 CFR Part 121 subparts, N, O, and P.
- Serves as JetBlue University’s regulatory expert on 14 CFR Part 121 subpart Y, Advisory Circular 120-54 and other AQP regulatory guidance.
- Serves as JetBlue University’s regulatory expert on 14 CFR Part 5, Advisory Circular 120-92 and other SMS regulatory guidance.
- Serves as JetBlue University’s regulatory expert on 14 CFR Part 60 and other training device regulatory guidance.
- JBU liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificate Management Office (CMO) and Training and Simulation Group (AFS-280) on matters related to the recency, training, checking, qualification, AQP, and training device qualification.
- Ensures the implementation and operation of the AQP for the College of Flight, College of Inflight, and College of System Operations adheres to regulatory requirements.
- Leverages AQP expertise to assist JBU with the application of the AQP philosophy and practices to their training curricula.
- Advises Assessment, Measurement, and Evaluation (AME) team on research and best practices for analyses related to AQP.
- Advises Learning Design (LD) team on best practices for design as related to ability to receive FAA approval within AQP.
- Ensures accurate and timely AQP data submissions to the FAA.
- Maintain AQP, SMS, and simulator and training device manuals and documentation.
- Participates in routine internal and external training program audits.
- Maintains relationships with Other Airline (OAL) counterparts for AQP benchmarking.
- Serves as JetBlue University’s expert on International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs).
- Coordinates with SMS counterparts in relation to training-related safety items.
- Conduct or facilitate event investigation and root cause analysis. Investigatory efforts will include, but not be limited to, conducting Crewmember interviews, soliciting and reviewing written statements/reports, and researching technical reports and documents.
- Responsible for qualifying new simulators and training devices, and maintaining qualification of existing simulators and training devices.
- Coordinates with simulator and training device Business Partners to ensure reliable operations.
- Takes a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.

- Bachelor’s Degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
- Five (5) years’ experience working in a technical aviation field
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
- Thorough understanding of 14 CFR Part 121 Subparts N, O, P, and Y, Advisory Circular 120-54A and other AQP regulatory guidance
- Thorough understanding of SMS requirements outlined 14 CFR Part 5, AC 120-92B, and IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs).
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy

- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management or relevant field
- Two (2) years’ experience as a pilot, dispatcher, or flight attendant in complex aviation operations
- Experience and/or training in the conduct of safety investigations, root cause analysis, and the identification of potential contributing Human Factors precursors
- Previous experience in an aviation training organization
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

Position Title: Manager Advanced Qualification Program and SMS (OSC)
Position Summary
The Manager Advanced Qualification Program and SMS supports the JetBlue University (JBU) Department Heads as a subject matter expert in training program regulatory compliance and in the development and management of Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) to ensure operational safety, to include continued qualification of simulators and training devices. The Manager is also responsible for Safety Management System (SMS) implementation and associated program compliance at JBU.
