As our campus grows and our support for our patients and staff increases, we will need a strong and experienced manager of transportation to direct all of our traffic, so to speak! The manager of transportation at St. Jude provides leadership and direct supervision for the campus transportation office. Working in accordance with policies and procedures, this role provides transportation services for patients and family members in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner. Other main duties include: - Overseeing assignments for transportation services and ensures completion of these assignments. - Monitoring, controlling, and updating the Campus Transportation Office activities. - Communicating pertinent information to patients and family members and staff regarding transportation services. - Overseeing invoice payment process. - Serving as main contact for the Campus Transportation system and GPS location applications. - Coordinating transportation activities with the St. Jude travel office, patient services, and security teams. - Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor’s degree required Minimum Experience: Four (4) years’ experience in customer relations and the management of day-to-day business operations is required Experience in a healthcare setting preferred Experience in handling transportation services extremely beneficial Previous leadership and supervisory experience required Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law Only: Valid drivers license in the employee's home state Job Responsibilities: Provides leadership and direct supervision for the Campus Transportation Office. Provides direction and mentoring to assigned staff. Establishes day-to-day workflow of the Campus Transportation Office, delegates work to individuals, and oversees staff schedules to maintain consistent administrative operations and ensure appropriate coverage of the office. Nurtures a team environment and establishes the standard for professionalism. Interviews and recommends applicants for hire. Develops performance standards, evaluates performance and conducts performance appraisals. Reviews and approves time away from work requests and bi-weekly timekeeper reports. Coordinates with staff to define policies and procedures. Coordinates the Campus Transportation Office activities with the Travel Office, Patient Services, and the Security Office on a routine basis. Develops and monitors capital and operating budgets. Provides oversight for budget expenditures and balances. Provides maintenance costs for departmental budget planning. Oversees transportation services to meet the needs of patients, staff and students and ensures timely service. Manages and coordinates with departments to provide services. Coordinates after-hours service coverage generally by communicating the availability of services to appropriate departments. Responds to emergency situations during and after standard hours to resolve immediate safety concerns. Manages and authorizes the driver approval process and works with Security and Financial Services regarding driving record verification. Maintains a current list of approved drivers and provides updates as needed. Monitors, controls, and updates the Campus Transportation Office activities. Monitors levels of utilization of services and takes corrective action as needed to maintain or enhance operations within specified regulations. Oversees vehicle preventative programs and activities to ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and effective operating condition. Assesses incidents, complaints (e.g. safety issues, routes, staffing, and driver behavior) for the purpose of investigating, resolving and recommending a resolution to a given situation. Researches new equipment/vehicles, laws, regulations, etc. for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts and proper maintenance of hospital-wide services. Manages and audits the fuel purchases, maintenance and repair of all St. Jude owned motorized vehicles. Manages fuel card inventory and coordinates new ordering on a routine basis. Prepares a monthly report on repairs and fuel card activity. Audits weekly ridership report to ensure compliance with departmental procedures. Reviews and audits repair invoices, maintenance requests and fuel usage and invoices. Communicates pertinent information to patients and family members, staff and visitors with regard to transportation services. Oversees invoice payment process. Reviews, verifies and approves invoices. Investigates and corrects any invoice issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. Serves as a role model by displaying a customer service-oriented, professional, and positive attitude, and encouraging teamwork at all times. Constantly seeks new and creative ways to improve the products, services, and systems within the department and across the hospital. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
