- Manage and coordinate branding, marketing and communication activities for the Employee Wellness department in collaboration with the Director Wellness, and the Executive Director Safety, Health, Wellness & Transportation. Work closely with VCH Communications Leaders, other People Team departments and other relevant internal and external partners as applicable.
- Act as the first point of contact for any client or contract issues. In conjunction with the Executive Director Safety, Health, Wellness & Transportation, seek out and develop relationships and contracts with new clients within the principles, values, and business needs of the department and the organization.
- Lead the contract development as well as the proactive maintenance of contracts, and develop a professional network, building relationships with existing contracted clients and vendors on behalf of the department for the term of each contract.
- Lead Employee Wellness initiatives by consulting managers, identifying workplace themes and initiatives and developing and implementing/rolling out appropriate, yet inspiring and engaging employee workshops, seminars and educational sessions and individual services that build employee engagement and resilience.
- Coordinate and assist in the marketing of sessions and services, conduct content research, implement services in collaboration with colleagues and consultants as applicable, evaluate the level of success and modify or cancel programs as appropriate.
- Develop departmental budgets for existing and new/enhanced programs, projects/initiatives and services and manages related resources and expenditures to maintain excellence in service provision, achievement of goals and targets, and ensure operating requirements are met.
- Supervise and guide designated staff using effective management techniques including but not limited to coaching and mentoring staff, conducting performance evaluations and enabling developmental opportunities, participating in recruitment activities and making hiring decisions. Ensure employee adherence to VCH policies and standards.
- Manage Wellness service provider contracts and vendors by developing and executing business proposals, including negotiating and implementing contracts, and building/maintaining positive relationships with clients and vendors on behalf of the organization.
- Manage and provide a safe and healthy workplace for patients/clients and staff and ensure that health and safety requirements for operational area are met. Report unsafe situations; investigate and take corrective action and/or notify appropriate personnel.
- Participate in VCH employee wellness initiatives as Initiative Owner or as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a health related field with strong experience in employee wellness promotion and strategies for a workforce that includes shift work and health care services, including consultation and customer service, and business development.
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ recent, related managerial experience in progressively more senior leadership roles, preferably in an organizational employee wellness program or Employee & Family Assistance Program.
- Certification in a recognized Corporate Wellness program is an asset.
- Current registration with a recognized and relevant accredited professional organization.
- Work related travel requires a valid BC Driver’s License and use of own vehicle.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
Outgoing, independent individual with excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in planning appreciation type events; from communication strategy, organizing and delivering events. Experience in healthcare a definite asset.
Strong ability to partner with other internal teams as well as external resources in creating wellness programs /activities to respond to the needs of the Richmond CoC.
Demonstrated ability to measure the success of these programs and ability to provide reports (both in writing and in person) to the Richmond Foundation and Senior Leadership at Richmond CoC.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives, provide management consultations to design and present inspiring and engaging educational programs, workshops, and seminars in complex work environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, coach and inspire team members/others to set and achieve realistic and measurable goals that are in keeping with the vision, values and strategies of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of clinical services and practices and use exceptional listening skills to assess and attend to client and organizational needs.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate, collaborate, influence and negotiate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders for effective resolution of wellness and client service issues. Uses problem solving and critical thinking abilities to resolve.
Demonstrated knowledge of group conflict and workgroup issues and demonstrated experience with successfully facilitating group interventions and resolving group and workplace conflict.
Advanced presentation and writing skills are required.
Demonstrated ability to utilize sounds business acumen to manage the fiscal resources of the department in a manner that is financially responsible and consistent with the overall goals of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to focus on customers and clients, engage stakeholders, assess and anticipate future needs, identifying potential problems and proactively responding with innovative solutions (e.g., generating revenue and program development activities).
Demonstrated business development ability; develops and executes business proposals, including negotiating and implementing contracts.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Salary
The salary range for this position is CAD $52.61/Hr. - CAD $75.62/Hr.Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Health, Safety & Wellness and accountable to designated Community of Care Senior Leadership, the Manager, Employee Wellness is responsible for leading, guiding, developing, implementing and evaluating Employee Wellness initiatives, programs and activities for the Richmond Community of Care that build team engagement and resilience. The Manager also plays a key role in the development and maintenance of client relationships and the development and negotiation of client organization and vendor contracts. As a member of the department’s management team, participates in managing and planning for financial and human resources, and managing the Employee Wellness brand, programs, and services. Aligns services within broad Health Human Resources planning initiatives for VCH in collaboration with Community of Care Operations Leaders, other People teams, and Communications. Coordinates related engagement with Operations Leadership, project working groups, and employee representatives as required.
