Job Description

- To ensure that the exchange control advisory and consultation service is provided to stakeholders that complies with the exchange control rules; regulations and directives as set by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and to ensure the functions operates at Gold Standard Client service levels.
- Manage client expectation and follow-up to ensure clients are informed and provide documentation and information timely.
- Compile management information for required reporting.
- Ensure all required information requests by the regulator (applications) are attended to in cooperation with Group EXCON.
- Prepare the application as per the approved roles and responsibilities and forwarded to Group Excon for oversight/quality check before submitting to SARB.
- Attend to client and staff queries.Track applications to ensure they are done timeously within SLA timelines and follow up on long outstanding applications.
- Manage the workflow queue (i.e. Papertrail) effectively by operating within the Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide progress reports to Management .
- Investigate and resolve internal CIB queries.
- Ensure that renewals are submitted timeously.
- Ensure all applications correspondence to the regulator are timeously prepared and submitted.
- Provide exchange control input and advice in terms of Group policy, manual, framework, strategy and risk appetite in respect of Exchange Control risk management and compliance thereto.
- Advising on the compliance with the Regulations.
- Advising clients when required in terms of applications including engaging with and providing guidance to consultants on the preparation of complex and/or out of the norm exchange control applications.
- Advise 1 LoD to facilitate the approval of exchange control applications that do not meet the rules, regulations and directives as set by SARB.
- Reporting Exchange Control risks and issues to the relevant governance forums.
- Setting risk appetite for Exchange control within the cluster.
- Setting KRI and MI requirements.
- Reporting training statistics to the relevant governance forums.
- Determine CIB EXCON training needs.
- Formulating and maintaining a training plan for CIB staff (over and above Group training).
- Executing training on all aspects of Exchange Control risk as appropriate in terms of general awareness and role specific training.
- Developing, maintaining and providing, where required, specialised Exchange Control risk training content.
- Assessing the effectiveness of the training implemented. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through regular engagements.
- Ensure that services are delivered per requirements.
- Share information and knowledge with other stakeholders.
- Ensure products comply to prescribed processes and ensure that Nedbank retain its foreign exchange license.
- Keep abreast of changes to rules, regulations and directives by engaging ith the SARB and FSB.
- Ensure that Business Unit stays abreast in field of expertise and deliver on the expectations from stakeholders.
- Bachelor of Commerce: Law
- Bachelor of Commerce : Accounting
- Minimum Experience LevelPreview6 years’ experience in Exchange Control and foreign exchange experience, including 2 years management experience.
