Job Description

- Participate in development of strategic HR initiatives to improve envisioned future operations and achieve the short and long term corporate goals.
- Understand the pulse of the corporation at all levels and acts as a conduit back to the Director, Human Resources and into the broader team.
- Lead a team of HR professionals to create and deliver value added HR services and programs, focused on fostering a culture of excellence and respectful work environment that attracts, retains, and inspires the best talent.
- Provide leadership and direction on complex and highly confidential employee and labour relations issues, acting as a point of escalation.
- Ensure compliance to applicable legislation, corporate policies, the collective agreement, and contractual agreements.
- Responsible for activities of a manager, including management of an operating budget, participating in strategic planning, budgeting for special projects, and improvement initiatives.
- Degree in Commerce, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related doscipline.
- A professional HR designation such as the CPHR is an asset.
- Eight years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including two years in a management or leadership role. Related experience must include a variety of disciplines, such as respectful workplace, wellness and return to work programs, labour and employee relations, change management, and total rewards.
- Experience in a unionized environment is a strong asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Code, Workers Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, and other related labour and human resource legislation.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of labour relations, collective agreement principles, and its impact on company operations is desired.
- Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills to understand broad HR issues and resolve conflict situations in a diplomatic manner.
- A strong business orientation and a commitment to superior customer service.
- Demonstrated experience in building strong inter-departmental relationships to meet goals.

Overview
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources (HR) provides strategic HR leadership and oversight of employee relations, respectful workplace, disability management and human resources policies, programs and practices, as well as providing guidance to the Supervisor, HR Business Partnerships to support to the business to ensure the achievement of business strategies and objectives by maximizing human capital.
The Manager, Human Resources is responsible to develop and deliver services and programming that meets the strategic needs of the corporation, anticipating evolving HR issues and requirements and solutions that address the impact of emerging trends from a people perspective.
