      Detailed Description:

      This is a full-time, temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2025. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.

      This recruitment is open to current University of San Diego employees only. Only current USD employees are eligible to apply and be considered for this position.

      The Manager of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing, nurturing, and retaining partnerships with local businesses across diverse industries within the San Diego area to boost program enrollments. This role utilizes a collaborative value strategy to establish strong relationships with leaders in target organizations, positioning the University of San Diego as a trusted advisor. The Manager is also responsible for increasing awareness of the institution’s graduate degree programs and is accountable for sustaining a pool of qualified prospective students.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Market Analysis: Conduct market and competitor assessments to identify and evaluate potential business opportunities and partnerships through effective and data-driven territory planning.
      • Sales Cycle Management: Understand the entire sales cycle, from identifying targets by researching company needs and securing executive sponsorship to developing proposals and negotiating contracts.
      • Relationship Building: Meet with senior management of prospective employer partners to communicate the University of San Diego’s value proposition, develop relationships, and secure corporate education partnerships.
      • Negotiation and Sales: Utilize strong negotiating skills with proven experience in conceiving and selling multifaceted, complex sales opportunities. Introduce and detail new product offerings and product enhancements to stakeholders.
      • Internal Collaboration: Develop and manage a clear understanding of relationship strategy internally among key stakeholders within the colleges.
      • Business Opportunity Evaluation: Evaluate all business opportunities to ensure viability and value to the organization, ensuring that business partnerships align with the College’s strategic objectives and mission.
      • Initiative Design and Implementation: Design and implement initiatives that connect industry partners with university programs, facilitating career pathways for students and aligning with workforce needs.
      • Networking: Demonstrate high proficiency in networking to develop and retain diverse and extensive networks both internally and externally.
      • Event Strategy and Management: Develop strategy, logistics, and communication for on-site and virtual recruiting events within partner organizations.
      • Recruitment: Conduct on-site and virtual recruiting events that lead to generating quality leads interested in enrolling in USD Online graduate programs.
      • Communication and Presentation: Exhibit excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.
      • Product Knowledge: Demonstrate thorough product and program knowledge, including trends in learning and development and within the partner organization.
      • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing Director and Senior Director.

      Job Requirements:

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required.
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a related role, preferably in higher education or a relevant industry.
      • Experience creating C-level business relationships that translate into B2B sales between corporate organizations.

      • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally, persuasively, and confidently via phone, email, and face-to-face appointments.
      • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within the University of San Diego, across departments and functions.

      • Successful track record of influencing executives across a partner’s organization.
      • Exceptional customer service skills.
      • Highly organized with strong planning and time management skills.
      • Ability to navigate an organization to interact with key decision-makers and other executives.

      • Ability to be a collaborative and supportive member of a high-performance work team.
      • Language Skills: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information on an individual and group basis and respond to questions from groups of employees, members, or the general public. Must be able to present PowerPoint presentations to large or small groups.
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
      • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with only limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
      Posting Salary:

      $5,916.67 - $6,666.67 per month; Excellent Benefits

      The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
