Job Details:
Works under the supervision of the Director of Perioperative Services to provide direction and coordination for all systems and processes supporting the activities, functions, and personnel of Sterile Processing and Distribution. Ensure the delivery of high quality services based on AAMI standards and best practice guidelines so that customer service and satisfaction are realized by those served. Responsible for the efficient management of all Sterile Processing activities on a 24-hour, seven-day week basis, in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Manager, (SPD) has responsibility for functional operation of the assigned area, with approximately 20 FTEs. The Sterile Processing function includes maintaining and providing an adequate supply of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment as necessary and required for patient care. The Manager will ensure that cost effective and efficient processes are maintained. Must be efficient in the operation of all equipment within the department and be knowledgeable of all service line instrumentation care. The Manager directs the activities of personnel assigned to their area and ensures instrumentation/supplies are received, prepared/processed, stored and distributed in compliance with regulatory agency and facility requirements. The Manager also conducts orientation and training of staff members and works closely with Operating Room and patient care unit staff to provide needed patient care needs and support. Will oversee staff accountability and monitor SPM productivity.
Department Specific Job Details:
Hours: Day shift- M-F 8 hour days
Education: Associate's degree is required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Work experience: 2-5 years of Sterile processing & distribution experience is required. 2-5 years of supervisory experience is required; Previous experience as a manager is preferred.
Certifications: Certification in Sterile processing is required. Certification in Healthcare Leadership/ Certified Instrument Specialist is preferred.
