- Ensure daily billing batches are cleared of all errors and ready for transmission
- Collect patient payments, update payment methods, and setup payment plans
- Conduct regular follow-ups with payers and patients to ensure timely payment of outstanding balances
- Understand insurance benefits and eligibility utilizing online insurance portals.
- Read and interpret EOBs/ERAs
- Identify, research, and escalate discrepancies on patient accounts
- Return patient and clinician emails/voicemails within 48 hours of receipt
- Demonstrate strong understanding of EMR and RCM platforms
- Utilizes Microsoft Office (Excel) to analyze report data
- Starting annual salary is $48,000 - $50,000/year, based on experience

- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- 2+ years of experience in behavioral health medical billing
- Experience with high volume medical collections
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus

LearnWell is seeking a Billing & Collections specialist to join an energetic team dedicated to expanding access to affordable, behavioral healthcare for our MA and NY practices. Our medical billing team plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization by managing and optimizing the accounts receivable process. You will work closely with clinicians, insurance companies, patients, and internal departments to maximize revenue and minimize outstanding balances. This position requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of medical billing in a behavioral health setting and collection processes.
The ideal candidate for the position will have extensive experience in various aspects of medical billing, including but not limited to claim submissions, prior authorizations, insurance appeals, and reprocessing efforts. This detail-oriented individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to streamlined revenue cycle management.

This position entails a 40 hour a week commitment, Monday through Friday (remote).
