What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct in-depth research on medical topics for policy revisions based on current standards of care
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to revise evidence-based medical policies and procedures
- Maintain the Medical Policy Reference Manual and ensure dissemination of policies to stakeholders
- Evaluate peer-reviewed articles and legislation for inclusion in medical policies
- Present findings and recommendations to internal clients at various levels
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, English, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in areas such as Medical Surgical, Mental Health, or Utilization Management
- Registered Nurse (RN) state licensure is required
- Knowledge of medical insurance, managed care principles, and coding systems (CPT and ICD-10)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Experience in research methodology and systematic evaluation of medical literature
