- Process and fulfill medical record requests in a timely and accurate manner
- Retrieve and compile patient records for internal and external requests, including audits and quality reviews
- Coordinate the release of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
- Respond to record requests via email and support internal teams, including collectors and audit staff
- Handle subpoenas and court-ordered requests under leadership guidance
- Accurately log and track all record requests in internal systems and spreadsheets
- Identify and follow up on missing or incomplete documentation with appropriate departments
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in medical records / Health Information Management (HIM)
- Hands-on experience with Release of Information (ROI) processes
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and handling of PHI
- Experience working within EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar preferred)
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills

Location: Remote (Must be based in Nashville / Middle Tennessee area)
Duration: 60-day contract
Soni is partnered with a client seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to support a high-volume healthcare environment with medical record requests, documentation review, and compliance-related processes. This role is focused on Release of Information (ROI) and requires a strong understanding of HIPAA guidelines and medical records workflows.
This is a fully remote opportunity; however, candidates must be based in the Middle Tennessee area.
