What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Contribute to and document initial and ongoing bio-psychosocial patient evaluations and assessments
- Develop patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Facilitate therapeutic sessions and patient/family conferences
- De-escalate potentially dangerous situations and promote stability within the unit
- Communicate observations regarding medication effects and signs of substance intoxication or withdrawal to RNs
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree; AND one year as a Mental Health Specialist I, or equivalent; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
- Eligible to obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification upon hire
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
- Strong communication skills for interacting with providers and authorities
- Ability to recognize and respond to patient needs effectively

- Experience working in a medical or mental health setting
- Familiarity with harm reduction principles
- Knowledge of community resources for homeless populations
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Skills in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
