- Accountable for the management and delivery of all aspects associated with the Development operations at the mine.
- Provide strong leadership to drive a high-performance culture, role modelling and reinforcing the behaviours that will underpin the success of the operation;
- Set & maintain clear accountabilities for team and direct reports. Hold people accountable to deliver, recognise and reward positive results;
- Appropriately share information in an open and timely manner through presentations and general communications to relevant stakeholders;
- Implement engineering and maintenance strategies to achieve “best Practice “asset reliability and availability.
- Work with Senior Management, Safety, Engineering, Technical and Operational departments in the achievement of safe production and other targets across the operation;
- Drive the implementation of continuous improvement and best practice initiatives
- Demonstrated leader in Development operations or similar operational role
- Good understanding of QLD Coal Mining & WH&S statutory obligations.
- Ability to work in high pressure and competing priority/ambiguous environments.
- Well-developed understanding of operational processes and maintenance work management.
- Strong problem solving techniques with ability to engage and influence team to met desired outcome.
- Hold people accountable to meet key deadlines and milestones.
- Act decisively, honestly and with integrity at all times.
- Respect the values and diversity of others.
- Drive Performance within the Business.
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to tasks.
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Located at our Aquila Mine, in Middlemount QLD.

Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of the Development mining activities and resources to maintain a safe and productive panel in accordance with the annual mining plan.
The role will be varied and rewarding and will involve the following:
