What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Interpret natural heritage and land ownership data to inform conservation decisions
- Utilize GIS software for statewide analyses and project reviews
- Conduct strategic outreach to prospective conservation partners
- Share data with internal and external partners using various GIS tools
- Prepare grant applications and funding requests, and organize meetings with diverse stakeholders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Proficiency and experience with geographic information systems (ArcGIS software suite)
- Extensive experience in interpreting and organizing biological data from various sources
- Strong communication skills for interacting with landowners and partners
- Demonstrated ability to plan, analyze, and manage data with attention to detail
- Familiarity with conservation biology and willingness to travel to remote settings
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with land ownership data and real estate transactions
- General knowledge of Virginia land protection options, including easements
- Understanding of Virginia's biological resources and natural heritage
