      We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Engineer 2 within the Office of Coastal Management, headquartered at Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve, assigned to Erie county.       What you will do…

      • Reviews applications for permits and leases for Lake Erie access and erosion control projects including detailed construction/engineering plans and specifications.
      • Performs site visits to assess site conditions and inspect coastal structures and coastal restorations.
      • Provides guidance to Lake Erie coastal property owners and lake-front communities related to lake access, erosion mitigation, and best management practices.
      • Performs education and outreach to community officials, technical professionals, and residents regarding coastal hazards, nature-based shorelines, and coastal management concepts.

      !*!Engineering degree from recognized school or college which has been accredited by accreditation board for engineering & technology; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued by State Licensing Board; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.!*!

      Knowledge of: Field investigation techniques & methods; safety practices (coastal inspection & construction related, Occupational Health & Safety Administration [OSHA]); public relations; agency policies & procedures (ODNR/Coastal)*; government structure & process (local, state, federal, ORC 1506)*; engineering (civil); law (State & Federal Engineering laws, rules & guidelines)*. Skilled in: word processing (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Computer Aided Design [AutoCAD], Geographic Information System [GIS], Arc Geographical Information Systems [ArcGIS]); equipment operation (survey equipment, computer, digital camera, state vehicle, Global Positioning System [GPS], CADD & drafting equipment for preparation of construction drawings &/or blueprints). Ability to: interpret extensive variety of technical material in books, journals & manuals; use geometry & trigonometry; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public; review, prepare & edit specifications, construction plans & related engineering documents & prepare technical reports.
